Please protect this place at all costs. I used to come here frequently on my lunch breaks in 2016 and fell absolutely in love with vegetarian Indian cuisine. They serve so many great options that expanded my culinary palette for such an unbeatable price, especially when I was a student. Vegetarian food how it's supposed to be enjoyed: seasoned well, spiced well, cooked with experience and love. It inspired me to learn how to cook Indian veg curries from scratch and maintain my health. I love this place so much and I am so glad it's still around.
the best india sweets and spices in LA, homemade somasas, friendly customer service, huge incense selection and many vegan natural body care and beauty products!! never don’t stop here when in culver city or on our way to santa monica!
Great place to eat Vegetarian Indian food at reasonable prices, loved the meal it was ok.. not super fancy, maybe not the best food but it was a good meal. if you are around culver city and you want a quick bite, this place is ideal.
This place is an absolute delight. The store owners are so sweet and gave me samples when I wasn’t sure what I wanted. The prices are more than fair, and most importantly, the food is absolutely to die for. I got a plate from the hot bar and a vegetarian burrito to put in my freezer next time I need an easy meal. I will definitely be back for a meal and for my ingredient needs!!
I've been coming here for years, and this is the third time in a row I have been extremely disappointed. The food is mush with no texture. . .I ordered the Palak Paneer tonight and asked specifically for extra paneer because the last time there was so little, and this time, there are three tiny bits in the serving. . .The yogurt curry is just mush. . .it used to have such texture and was delightful. . .the saffron rice is bland. . .everything all over is bland. . .it has been so hit or miss the past few times here. . .Susan must not be cooking anymore. . .The prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. . .I have RAVED about this place for years!!! I am talking 15 years and I am so disappointed I came all the way from West Hollywood in traffic for this. . .hopefully they will read this and make adjustments. . . I saw the husband here and at 6:30 in the evening this place used to have steady traffic. . .now it is just me. . .I don't have the guts to go inside to tell them I am disappointed. . .but maybe i should, because they may NEED to know. . .I don't know. . .it's almost $20 shot and that money isn't chump change for me. . .anyway. . .sitting outside is nice and Culver City is sweet. . .so I should look at the bright side. . .there is a spot on San Vicente at La Brea on the South East corner I went to not so long ago that had bomb Indian food. . .big portions and sweet people. . .I will go back there next time. . .
Quick service and cheap! The lemon rice is tasty with the lentil daal as well. Mostly vegan / vegetarian.
Small local business that needs to be experienced! This unassuming location in the heart of Culver city is packed with food and has a friendly atmosphere that will want you to come back!
This store sells everything needed to fill your cupboards with Indian spices and products. But the lure to this place is the all vegetarian food. A great selection of hot and cold Indian street food items that are both savoury and sweet is as authentic to India as you can get. The owners are friendly can’t walk away without having a smile on your face. Their hot chai is a must along with their mango lassi. Everything is freshly made bursting with flavour. This store has the regulars that know their favourites by heart and will make you want to add this place to your favourites as well.

Inexpensive, fast, and tasty. You normally can't get all three, but you can here! Cafeteria style food that is really flavorful. Most of it is vegan (and clearly labeled as such) Small grocery with all the basic staples and altar goods like small statues and incense. Seating in the foyer and outdoors under a tarp. Highly recommend the lemon rice.
Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

BEST Gulab Jaman in LA !!!!! Their dahi puri is to die for!!!! Their dosa’s are delicious and fresh. Definitely recommend!
Local Indian Small market with hot foods,to-go/ out door/ new indoor dinning. I always order a Dosa, order a plate of food and Medium Chai tea. I really love the local crowd here. I’ve been coming here for 30 years and it’s always the same goodness. Thank You always! #ICYMI
We were cold and famished after a long visit to the nearby Museum of Jurassic Technology, and in no time we were eating hot delicious inexpensive food! The couple who runs it are kind and welcoming.
Everything so yummy!! I don’t understand how they have 4.3 reviews when it should be 5 stars! Filling and flavorful. Everything was done well! Lentils and garbanzos were soft in texture! Will come back!

It was DELICIOUS & Filling. Flavors were beyond belief. Prices & hospitality 👍💯👍💯👍💯. Definitely a must come back. Thank You 😊 🙏
I absolutely love this place. We have been coming for years and now our kids love it too. Not only is the food delicious and cooked with care, they have an excellent array of groceries, many of them organic.
I go here to get all my tea spices. They got all the spices and flours here. As well as hot food and drinks. Also found these rice and chickpea chips called chekalu, they're so good.
Great store, very authentic, food looks great. I bought some spices to make my own chai at home, I had to get 7 different spices, and they had them all!
Literally the best Indian food in LA. The family that works there is so incredibly nice and welcoming. They always pile up the portions and it is impossible to leave hungry. I’ve eaten here since around 2012 and have never been disappointed. If you don’t know much about Indian food, they’ll gladly help you pick out a meal you’ll love. Also, they accept EBT for anyone wondering. India Sweets and Spices will always have a place in my heart!
Chai, somosas, a little hindu market and delicios indian plates
This is my go to place. The food is soooo good and the prices are even better!!! I come in at least 3 times a week and the food is always fresh. The people that work there always so kind and friendly. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this hidden gem.
The (vegetarian) buffet has a long line, and it smelled delicious. I just came in for a mango lassi, and they made the lassi fresh for me. Delicious, sweet, and filling. I'll be back to try the buffet.
The food is worth 4.7 stars all day! Way more flavor than 4 other Indian places I have tried in the area. We shared 3 entrees and two of the street food items. Based on this experience I can recommend anyone try it. Good spice levels and diverse tasting dishes.
Wow, I mean this is the stuff that makes me feel like I could go 100% vegetarian. Small grocery but also come for the prepared food. It’s always hot, delicious, and a great value. You get to pick from a ton of options and they are all immediately available. The owners are so nice and there’s plenty of seating. Check it out!
Amazing affordable vegan options! If you get the vegan shrimp, then lucky you!
My wife has been eating here for years before meeting me. It was only right she brought her hubby for some lemon rice Egg plant potato lentils, okras with grilled onions.. We will definitely be 🔙.
Great store and a nice cafe to pick up some tasty food. We enjoyed our first visit there 👍👍
Super lovely counter-service with tons of seating outside. Vegan options clearly marked. Not all dosas are vegan, just ask. Word to the wise do not get your dosa " to-go " 😂 they're a work of art and deserve to be displayed in all their glory.
I have had the hot food about 6 times from this location and always leave feeling satisfied. I recommend the two sides with the samosa option. I enjoy the dipping sauces provided lots of vegan or vegetarian options. Fair price for the portion size. I also recommend checking the store , lots of rice, spices, herbs and other healthy food options!
Great selection of food every day. Love the chai!
Just like dabas on India, Vegetarian and a nice grocery. Best Indian chai we had in the US
This is my go-to location for authentic Indian food. The people that work here are like family and have great attitudes. There is also a market attached to purchase different types of goods
Lots of great Indian ingredients like currys. And the best British tea, PG Tips!
Fantastic Masala Dosa and the Chai tastes straight from back home India. Bonus, they also serve Idli with tomato chutney so if you're looking for brunch ... you've found it here. They also have a wide range of spices!!! Definitely a must place to check out if in Culver City. They recently added a cute patio area outside.
I regulary get freshly made vegetarian food and South Asian groceries from here. I love the small family business vibe.
On my first visit to India Sweets & Spices, I had a great experience. It seems that a majority of people that came during my visit came for the food. It is quite a small, cramped grocery store but my review focuses on the restaurant portion. It is a pick and chose menu where you can see the prepared dishes before you pick them for your plate. I tried the Mutter Paneer and the Jack Fruit Curry which were both pretty good. It came with rice and 1 roti. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. The Mutter Paneer did have an odd aftertaste but maybe that is the way they flavor it here.
Great little restaurant and Asian grocery store. Has a section dedicated to delicacies and specialties from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. Food is awesome. People are very nice
Fresh turmeric, delicious ayurvedic drinks and teas. It is a small store with fresh produce and products from India and other Southeastern countries. I pleasantly ran into a delicious bar of Turkish chocolate the other day when I went to get some incent sticks... Oh, their food bar and masala tea are to die for... Also, very reasonably priced. They have a handful of fresh produce that is truly "fresh". Highly recommended. And they are ultra kind and friendly.
The ready made food is absolutely perfect. I'm no vegetarian much less vegan, but I love, love, love this place. The flavors are amazing! The store is little cramped but that's ok, I can move about the aisles.
This place has been here for nearly 40 years or more been going to that Indian store they carry lots of stuff very satisfied.
Polite people and a great mom and pops shop for all your culinary Indian needs!!
I celebrated my graduation earlier this evening in this great place. happy to tell that we enjoyed a terrific evening and the venue was surely the reason for the fruitful event. The team cooperated in a very nice style, the meals were yummy and my friends were very happy. We shall definitely return for more celebrations. thanks very much.
I have been going to this little store for over 15 years- the same owners, same delicious Indian vegetarian take out and wonderful array of Indian spices.
I love going to this place and I always walk away feeling lucky to live in LA where you can "food travel" to at least 20 countries in a matter of minutes....

Great store with good customer service. These folks are so kind and so helpful the store has a good supply of many. Many products. I have been shopping g here. For over 10 years.
A wide selection of vegan and non-vegan curries and daal. I've tried most of them and have yet to be disappointed. They also have a good selection of different barfi if you have a sweet tooth. The mandala chai is good. Outdoor seating during Covid.
This place is wonderful! Friendly service. I've had almost every dish and they are all good. When I go in, I tell the guy, "May I have lemon rice and the 2 side orders, you pick!" The mango lassi is also very good. Price is reasonable for the amount of food you get. And try the green sauce if you like good spice. There's not many places I'm so lenient with my food but they never disappoint. I also am in no way, shape, or form a vegan. It's not happening. However, I don't mind being vegan if I get to eat like this every day.
SIMPLY AMAZING!!!! I've never been so impressed with the service they provide and how delicious the food was. Thank you THANK YOU ! the boss was so sweet and the cooks kept providing us with food since mine "takes longer" which all in total it was not a long wait anyway! Super glad I decided to try this. They even gave us a mango smoothie for the wait of 10 minutes. Impressed.
We’ve been going here for years for their vegan dishes and love the flavor. Their jackfruit curry is particularly good, and they make a soy chai on request.
